Book Review: Bridge to Terabithia (Katherine Paterson)

This book is about a young boy named Jesse Aarons, who lives in the suburbs of Washington D.C. named Lark Creek. His poor family doesn’t care about him. He doesn’t get affection from his dad. He loves running. He has four sisters. Their names are Ellie, Brenda, May Belle, and Joyce-Anne. Another important character is Leslie Burke.

During the summer he practices running in his yard. One day, new neighbors moved in
the house next door. These neighbors have a daughter named Leslie Burke. He thinks that she is of those girly girls. He is wrong.

After a while, they become good friends. They make an imaginary country in the woods.
This country is called Terabithia. They make themselves king and queen.

One day, a great tragedy occurs. Only then Jesse realizes what strength and bravery Leslie gave him.

We recommend this book to children from ages 10 through 13.
